Can your child revise their own work?
Ask your child, "Does your sentece look right?"
Have your child tap the capital letter at the begining and bump the punctuation at the end.
Have your child read their writing out loud in a character's voice, ask your child "does that sound like talking?"
We are approximating when it comes to spelling so instead of fixing every word, ask your child "Is there any trick words or sight words you know how to spell in that sentence?"
Encourage your child to take risks with spelling! Juicy writing and ideas are more important than spelling everything correct.
