Phonemic segmentation
Concepts of consonant digraph, keywords, and sounds: wh, ch, sh, th
Spelling of ck at the end of words
Punctuation: Learning a questions mark (?)

In this unit students will learn about the digraph cards: wh, ch, sh, th and ck.
Rules of Digraphs:
These sounds 'stick together' to form one sound even though they are two letters.
The digraph wh is only spelled at the beginning of a word
The digraph ck is only used at the end of a word right after a short vowel.

Sentences
Remember to continue to practice the spelling word procedure when spelling these words. Students should first complete the procedure and then add symbols.
In this unit we introduce two concepts. The first concept is learning the procedure for spelling sentences and the use of symbols.
Students when writing sentences circle the sight word and the underline the digraphs in each of the words. Here is an example below:

The fish is hot.
Beth had a wig and a hat.
A big moth got into the pot.

Did Jack rush to the bus?
