Vinyl Cutting Process

This is my final product for my vinyl cut logo. I used siloette studies to design this. The first step was to pick an image that i wanted to use as my logo. I made sure the background of my logo was transparent so it would make it easier to get it into printing format.

This is my final product for my vinyl cut name. I used siloette studies to design this aswell. This was much eaier to design to than my logo because I just had to use the text option on siloette studious to type my name.

This is what I started with.

I then ungrouped the circle from the rose.

I removed the color to get the proper printing format and saved it until I was ready to print.

When I was ready to print myself and my other classmates decided to print all of our design on the same sheet to save time and materials.

This is the vinyil cutting video process of our designs. The printing process wasnt too complex.

We downloaded our designs from the enjprog folder to the printing computer
We opened our designs on siloette studious and placed them in a way that would perserve the printing materials.
We pressed print on the computer which sent it tp the printer
We picked out a color and we tried to find used pieces but since our designs were so much we used a whole piece.
We found a stick mat and placed the paper on the mat and lined the edges up with the printer.
We pressed print on the printer and it began printing.

I cut out my name and logo from the rest of the designs.

I applied the transfer tape on top of my designs, this made it easier for me to stick it on my box. It also made sure the sticker wasn't lopsided on my box.

Problems i Encountered

The entire process was quite easy but the only problem I had was that when I was trying to stick it only my box I used the transfer tape incorrectly and it made the sticker stick together. I attempted to fix it, but at the end I printed a new logo. Thats why logo is red instead of blue.

Work flow for designing box

Open Corel Draw.
Set up the page size turn the units into inches, and Change the page size to 24 by 24 inches
Create a new grid and change units to inches, change the spacing x and y to .25, and make the major grid line every 4.
Draw 3 boxes and make the first one 3 by 2 inches, the second one 4 by 2 inches, and make the third one 4 by 3.5 inches.
Make small tabs that are .25 by .25 (make sure snap bounding is on before continuing)
Copy your tap a place it in the middle of the shortest side on the first box you made, do this on both of its sides. Then paste the tabs on the bottom side of the first box.
Select the entire box and under path press union to join all the parts together
Copy three small tabs to the bottom of the second box you made and union it.
make a copy of the first box and slightly overlap the copy by ¼ of an inch on the second box you made. Select both of them and uses the difference tool to make an imprint on the box. Do this on both sides of the rectangle.
Then make a copy of the imprinted rectangle which is the second box and overlap it on top of the third box you made and use the difference tool to imprint the top of the rectangle.
Paste another copy of the circle and flip it vertically and repeat the imprinting process.
Make a copy of the first box you made and overlap it on the third box and then rotate it 90 degrees counterclockwise.
Select both of the objects and use the difference tool to imprint the third box.
Repeat this on the other side of the third box but make a copy of the rotated rectangle and flip it horizontally.
All sides of the third rectangle should be imprinted
make a copy of the first and second rectangle to get all the box sides And paste it.
Change the fill to none, a change the outline to red.
Go under object and click fill and stroke.
Change the stroke width to .001 inches. (This is the appropriate printing width.)
Save design!!!!

Work flow for printing box

Small Epilog Large Epilog

Go to a computer with an open laser cutter
Log into your file
Download your file and open CorelDraw
Turn on the laser cutter vents and turn the power on for the laser cutter
Open your downloaded file on CorelDraw (make sure you save your design)
Press print and go into preferences.
Make sure paper size is the same size as what you put in there and turn on auto focus.
Make sure the preference settings are the same as the settings sheet on the printer you are using. After you choose your preference settings hit apply and print.
Place your material in the printer. (Find scapes before whole pieces)
Choose the correct job and hit go

Make sure the fan is on
Go to engproj and download your file into CorelDraw and open it in CorelDraw.
Make sure your design in hairline
Press print and print again not preferences.
Place cardboard into the printer And make sure the drawing is aligned on either the edges of the cardboard.
Select your material type which would be cardboard.
Go down to vector and change it to 25%, speed to 20%, power to 100%, and frequency to 50% and press print
Go to the printer and select your correct design.
Move the jog stick to the place your are going to be cutting, so somewhere on the cardboard.
Select auto focus and press the start pause button. (If there’s an emergency call a teacher and press the red button.)

I used the large Epilog workflow for this. I uploaded my design on the computer and I printed it. I took all the pieces and glued it together with a hot glue gun.

Problem I Encountered

The only problem I enountered was that I didn't put on snap bounding. This was a problem because if i printed it, the pieces wouldn't fit perfectly together. I had to restart my whole design because of that problem.
