Laser Cut Cat Head

Cat head

The first couple of Corel drawing we did have all been more or less confined to the second dimension. In other words, they are flat. But with this drawing, we were able to use the laser cutter, which cuts 2d shapes, and combine them so in the end we had a 3D objectMy final project actually is wildly different from the original inspiration, which was a paper lightshade owl I found on etsy. As I was drawing, it evolved into a sort of owl cat hybrid that I created. While the idea was not originally supposed to be for laser cutter, but just meant to be folded from paper, I loosely used its idea and adapted it so that it could be used as a laser cutter project. To get a feel for what I was designing, I also sketched it out and added some measurements, as seen in the picture. I was able to cut it out and assemble it for this finished product.

In my original design, there was going to be a bod for this cat. At the bottom is a link to download it. But unfortunately, quite a few things went wrong with my design. WHile I was designing it, I tried to be conscientius of the fact that ech part would fit in with each other part, and I had to have incredibly precise measurements, or it would not fit. I also needed to pay extra attention to how everything would look when printed, because I wanted to be able to attach everything without distorting this cats figure too much. Unfortunately, conceptually I made a lot of mistakes on the body with how everything would fit together, and due to time constraints ended up completely scraping it by the time I had finished printing it out. So this project slowly evolved and ended as this.
