What is the SAM? The SAM is the Self-Assessment of MTSS, a tool that is used to guide you in helping prioritize goals to improve school-wide systems and validate the areas in which your team is on track.
How do we use this document? Once anonymous responses are collected, we use the responses to come to a consensus on where our MTSS team is. We identify areas that are our biggest priority, note where we want to be, who will be responsible, and when do want to see the changed results. These MTSS team goals will be clearly defined, shared with stakeholders, and become a school-wide initiative. MTSS suggestions include reviewing and monitoring growth on the Action Plan document weekly or bi-weekly at MTSS to make sure that the team continues to work towards SAM goals. The SAM is conducted a second time in the spring to see if growth has been made.
For 22-23 all schools completed the SAM in the fall and spring. This allowed for teams to see if they improved in any areas of MTSS over the course of the school year.
TFI
The TFI - Tiered Fidelity Inventory - comes from PBIS in order to review the fidelity of PBIS interventions, through questioning staff and students, observations, and discussions with the school community. There are multiple options for completing the TFI, however, all schools complete tier 1.
