A key component of MTSS involves accessing, reviewing, analyzing and responding to data on multi-tiered levels. We can't complete the last three (review, analyze and respond), if we are unable to complete the first part - access. Here you will find various instructional videos on how to access student/school wide data. It is important to note that staff members have varying degrees of access to programs, so there will be videos for admin and for teachers. If you don't have access to certain information, contact your administration about providing that information for you.
What type of data should we look at during MTSS? There are multiple topics to consider reviewing, including, academics (percent A-C, percent failing, class breakdown [subject area], instructional setting, English proficiency level, ethnicity, etc.), attendance (chronic absenteeism, truancy, fidelity of attendance taking), behavior review (by student, location, time, behavior, instructional setting, R360 support plans), intervention support (Fastbridge, Read180, etc.), SEL (Rethink/Second Step fidelity, tied to R360 data and PBIS initiatives), PBIS, Student Support updates, etc. These are just a small list of potential topics, every school will be different in what they analyze. Below are some resources to help you access this data!

Why doesn't everyone have access to all information? Just like providing tiered supports for students (not all students need all services), not all staff need to know all information. It is important that personal information remains personal, and staff aren't unconsciously biased towards students they don't know/teach. Teachers should have access to their students information, while administrators will have access to the whole school, so they can identify trends, successful systems, and create action plans to make positive change where needed.
