The purpose of Project Prevent is to provide school mental health supports in communities with pervasive violence to better address the needs of affected students and to break the cycle of violence.
Our 5-year grant (October 1, 2019 – September 30, 2024) has the following goals:
1. Build district and school-level capacity to identify, assess, and serve students exposed to pervasive violence;
Crisis Prevention Intervention, Trauma-Informed & Secondary Trauma, Screening
2. Implement school-based prevention strategies for all students in our target schools;
Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Social and Emotional Learning (SEL).
3. Ensure affected students receive the supports needed to address their mental health, academic, and behavioral needs.
