Homebound Services partners with MUSC STAR, Windwood Farm, and Palmetto Behavioral Health to provide educational opportunities for students receiving treatment in these specialized programs. Our primary goal is to help students maintain academic progress while addressing their medical and therapeutic needs. Educational services are designed to support each student's academic, behavioral, and emotional growth within a structured learning environment. Students receiving educational services through the MUSC STAR Program, Windwood Farm, or Palmetto Behavioral Health do not require the district's Medical Homebound nurse verification process.
Educational Services:
Outpatient Program:
MUSC STAR: Students enrolled in the MUSC STAR outpatient program receive approximately one hour of educational services each day while participating in intensive outpatient treatment.
Residential Treatment Facilities:
Windwood Farm: Students residing at Windwood Farm typically receive 4–5 hours of daily instruction. Students may attend classes at their local elementary, middle, or high school.
Palmetto Behavioral Health: Students receive approximately two hours of educational services each day while participating in residential treatment.
Students enrolled in the MUSC STAR, Windwood Farm, and Palmetto Behavioral Health programs receive both general education and special education services, as appropriate, in accordance with their educational plans and, when applicable, their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Educational services are coordinated with each student's home school to promote continuity of instruction and support academic progress throughout treatment.
