Supplies: Small or Medium White Cup, Balloon, Markers (Black, Orange), Mini Marshmallows, Scissors, Measuring Tape, Other objects to launch
Cut the bottom of the cup off.
Draw a snowman face/design on one or both sides of the cup.
Cut the top portion of your balloon off, leaving the tail of the balloon.
Stretch the balloon across the bottom of the cup (covering the hole you made) to form the snowman's "hat."
Place mini marshmallows into the cup and pull back the tail/hat of the balloon. Release.
Watch how far the marshmallow shoots and measure the distance.
Next, try adding two marshmallows to the cup or a crumpled piece of paper. Measure the distance it travels and compare that to the original mini marshmallow.
What causes the marshmallow to shoot farther? Were you able to shoot other objects (like crumpled paper) from your snowman marshmallow shooter? How far were you able to launch your original mini marshmallow?
