WPA works with women at all stages of criminal justice involvement. We promote alternatives to incarceration and help women living in the community to avoid arrest or incarceration by making positive changes in their lives. Inside prison and jail, we are a source of support to women and a resource to them as they plan for release. After incarceration, women come to WPA for help to build the lives they want for themselves and their families in the community.
Hour Woman to Woman Mentoring Program offers each of Hour Women the opportunity to be matched with a mentor who can support her as she works towards her personal and professional goals. Mentors are recruited and trained to be listeners, guides and role models to Hour Women as they navigate the many challenges of their lives. Through the informal transmission of knowledge, social capital and psycho-social support, the mentoring relationship can greatly enhance a woman’s ability to achieve success.
Anyone interested in mentoring should contact Liz Armao at 914-473-9412 or by email at larmao@hourchildren.org.
