Intro to Health Sciences


Survey of medical and health-related occupations, including biomedical sciences. Discussion of health care structure, private and public entities, the research community, and trends in health education and practice. This is the introductory course for the Health Sciences Pathway

Anatomy & Physiology


This intense, quick-paced course uses a body systems based approach to learning human anatomy & physiology. Students will be REQUIRED to learn the NAMES of muscles and bones while learning the functions of those systems. Students will participate in dissections, hands-on labs, career investigations, and research projects. This course emphasizes critical thinking skills and study skills in preparation for college level classes. College credit is transcribed through Oregon Tech which can be used at most 4-year colleges/universities.

Medical Terminology


Medical Terminology is a course that is focused on teaching you the medical language skills that you will need to be successful in the healthcare field. Students will have the opportunity to earn college credit through Willamette Promise and Oregon Institute of Technology. The course covers a wide range & variety of medical terminologies based on their prefixes, suffixes, word roots and will include common abbreviations, basic anatomical terms, medical procedures, and pathology. Students will be able to identify, name and locate human anatomical structures and functions using appropriate terminology for the following body systems: digestive, urinary, cardiovascular, respiratory, blood and endocrine. Students will use knowledge gained in this course to interact and communicate more effectively with a healthcare team. This class requires learning at an accelerated pace due to the amount and complexity of the required material. YOUR success will depend on the time and effort that is invested in this course.
