Intro to Criminal Justice


Survey of criminal justice-related occupations, including law enforcement, community policing, corrections, victim assistance, and criminal courts. Discussion of criminal justice structure, the research community, and trends in criminal justice education and practices. This is the introductory course for our Criminal Justices Program of Study in CTE.

Current Affairs - Criminal Justice


This course provides students with an opportunity to study current affairs in order to develop an understanding of the differences in cultures that have evolved around the globe; the impact of international economic activity on the world; the international nature of politics and the development of various political ideologies; the way by which economic, cultural and political processes shape unique regions; the electoral processes across the globe; and the nature of local, regional, national, and global conflict.

Social History through Film - Criminal Justice


This course explores the Post Modern Era beginning at the end of World War II. It places heavy influence on understanding current events and social issues within the context of social history,. Topics include both foreign and domestic events including, but not limited to, civil rights, economics, globalization, social consciousness, and technology. The text set includes pieces from across the social sciences, including film, popular art and music, as well as the press services. Students will spend a significant time engaged in dialogue and discourse with. their peers as well as participate in modern blogosphere. Students who are interested in engaging in our modern social world and who want to increase their social studies skills are highly encouraged to participate. This course will also present the opportunity for students to participate in the Oregon Model United Nations State Conference in the Spring.

Psychology


This course provides an overview of psychology. Topics include the history and important people, as well as, sensation, perception, learning, memory, behavior modification, and other topics related to human and animal behavior. Students will be engaged in a variety of projects that includes psychological experimentation, data collection, and analysis. This class is advised for any students who has an interest in human development.

Forensics


This full-credit course is designed around authentic performance assessments with students working in teams to solve crimes using scientific knowledge and reasoning. It involves all areas of science including biology, anatomy, chemistry , physics, and earth science with an emphasis in complex reasoning and critical thinking. In addition, students must incorporate the use of mathematics and social studies.
