With this piece, I wanted to accomplish two key things. First, I wanted to make an eye-catching photo that could grab the attention of someone. And secondly, I wanted to make the viewer of this piece briefly think about what this piece is trying to do.
The brainstorming process of this piece involved me browsing through multiple images that stuck out to me the most. I had originally wanted to try and edit an image that dealt with technology, but I ended up scrapping that idea not too long into the process.
While this piece doesn’t have any typography, I wanted to give more visual symbolism to describe things like transformation and evolution.
Overall, I do like how the overall result of this piece turned out. The added ‘Burn’ effect on the wings adds more depth to them, especially. I do, however, think that the wings of the butterfly don’t blend that well with the body of the butterfly. I also wish that I had put in some more contrast with the two main subjects of the piece. If I were to start this over, I would’ve changed the type of leaves that I used for the butterfly wings, that way it’d fit in better with the piece.
