Emma Zimmerman “Red Train”
12X18, Acrylic on paper, 2018
The theme of this painting is life lesson, this fits with the theme because I have learned how dangerous trains can be. A trail derailed by my house years ago and hearing stories of cars getting hit by trains has made me more cautious and aware of trains. Symbolism can be seen through how the train and scenery look, they are relaxed and pretty in a way, but yet very dangerous. If I were to start over I would try to get the trees and plants along the track to be in better proportion to the train and make them have the same kind of style. I overall love all of the shading and the 3D look.
Emma Zimmerman “Portrait of a woman”
18x24, Acrylic on canvas, 2018
This a painting of a picture portrait of a woman, the picture was taken by photographer and artist Philippe Echaroux. I chose to paint this woman because I wanted to challenge myself and thought that there was a great amount of detail that would be difficult to paint like the skin shading and freckles on her face. If I were to start over I would try to make the background more of background instead of a color so that it would give the viewer more to look at and add to the detail. I overall love how the skin shading and little details turned out to create a realistic painting.
