Personal Logo
Photoshop, 2017
The purpose of this work was to create a personal logo that represented me. I first went through a brainstorming process, during this I made a list of things that I like or that represent me, I then turned my ideas into thumbnails and sketched ideas. From there I picked the three that I thought were my strongest, and finally I chose my best and made a bigger copy of it. From there I made my design in Photoshop and edited and revised it into the final that I have now. My design represents me through the abstract basketball and the two letter E’s created with lines on the side of the basketball because, I play basketball and my first and middle initials are both E’s. I decided to use the colors black and white and keep it simple because I view myself as a simple person and I thought that adding color would take away and distract from the logo itself. I am most pleased with the overall product of my design because I think I accomplished representing myself without using words and using design. If I were to start over I think I would think of a way to incorporate my initial Z so that it was more specific to me.

K-12 Art Show Flyer

The purpose of the flyer was to get out a message, and show the message in a way that would attract attention and evoke interest. I first brainstormed ideas by looking at examples of other art flyers. I then created eight thumbnails, with many different ideas. I wanted my flyer to look serious but yet show that it was for an art even without having pictures of things that have to do with art on it. So then I decided to show the theme of art through the fonts I used, I looked through many fonts and chose three that I thought worked well together and that complimented each other. I then started by putting the information on the flyer first and then playing with the fonts. After that I picked a color that I thought was interesting to look at, from there I thought that the flyer still needed something to tie it all together, I did this by using clipart to pull in the sense of it being a school art show. I feel that my typography supports the message because I used fonts that show playfulness and also that show seriousness. I am most pleased with the overall product because I think that it gets the message across and will evoke interest. If I were to start over I would consider changing my color scheme to make the flyer a little brighter and eye catching from the start so that it might be more fun to look at for all.

Movie Poster

The purpose of this project was to create an original movie poster and to promote and give information about an upcoming movie. I first started by brainstorming ideas for a movie plot. I decided to have a story based on the movie The Great Gatsby, a story about forbidden and lost love while keeping up with a fast paced life in the 1920’s. I then sketched three ideas, the ideas were based off of scenes and events from the movie such as secret meetings and tragic events. Next I chose my best idea which was a main scene in the movie when the two characters sneak off from a party in the dark to be alone. I recreated this scene with having a silhouette of two people hidden under a weeping willow tree while a large lit up house is just feet away. I also used glasses to pull in the theme of being watched by everybody all the time. The photos I used were from I clipart and I also downloaded brushes that I used to create a foggy effect and to create a cloudy night with clouds over the moon, to also get this affect I adjusted the opacity on some layers. I also downloaded two fonts, I used a decorative one that I thought fit the theme of the movie as the title and a cleaner cut and sleek looking font for the actor names and credits so that they were easy to read. I am most pleased with the overall product; I think that it gets across the message of two people sneaking around who are in love but yet aren’t safe from others finding out. I also really like the colors I used, I think they really show the idea of sadness. If I were to start over I think I would change the layout of the poster so that things are more balanced, I also think I would change the background of the poster. Instead of using a plain color I think I should’ve used a picture with action or that was more interesting and thought provoking.

Commencement program

The purpose of this project was to design a commencement program cover for the 2017 graduation. I first started gathering ideas from looking at other commencement covers online and from years past, I also pulled ideas from clipart and got ideas from the class flower. My two covers are both very different, my first one has the class flower on it and has a more elegant look with script font and cherry blossom branches covering the front. My second cover has more of a school theme with our school logo, this one also has a more graduation feel to it with the cap on the back and the more serious look. I think that both covers support the design goal and give a message because they both have elements from our school and have the idea of graduation. I am most pleased with my first cover with the cherry blossoms because It has a flow and movement throughout that keeps your eyes looking at it and I think the fonts I used enhance the cover and tie everything together. If I could change anything I would change my second cover and have a more guided idea because I knew what I wanted it to look like but I was unable to recreate it in Photoshop because the clipart pictures I had didn’t work out, so I had to take my idea in a different direction.

The purpose of this assignment was to design and create an art museum with a website, logo and business card. We first started by looking at different art museums and getting ideas from those. We then sketched and wrote down all ideas on paper and chose our best ideas. We came to a conclusion with our name, logo and colors from this. Next we created a document with all fonts, colors and things that would be in our museum. We then began creating our website, we aimed for a sophisticated and modern design and feel for our museum. I think we accomplished this in the way that we had darker blue colors that would normally appeal to older people, we also made things seem more high end and less playful to get the idea across that this was modern and sophisticated. I am most pleased with the overall website because it all came together with a common theme carried throughout and all parts look really well together. If we were to start over I would want to add more detail and descriptions to some of the pages like the exhibits page to make you want to see the exhibits even more.

Drug free campaign/ The best me is drug free
Photoshop 2017
The purpose of this assignment was to create a poster preventing drug use. I first started by looking at other drug prevention posters online to get ideas. From their I had the idea to create a poster showing the good side of not using drugs and the bad side of using drugs. I then found a picture of a girl on clip art and made one half black and white and one half colored. From their I used various brushes and effects to make the bad half of the girl look tired and I wanted to create an image of what people don't want to be like. I next added smoke behind the bad half to represent the drug use more. I also chose text that was appealing and had contrast, I wanted the word Best to be bold and outstanding so that it really got your attention and give you the idea to be your best. I also strategically placed the word Me on the good half of the girls face to show that this is the real her, not being on drugs. I am pleased with the whole thing, I really like the contrasting fonts and colors throughout and I think it clearly gets the message across to not use drugs. If I were to start over I would maybe try to find a different smoke brush to use to make it look more smokey and more noticeable that it's smoke and so that it doesn't look like part of her hair.

Reading Adventure Flyer
Photoshop 2017
The purpose of this project was to create a flyer to send home to advertise for the summer reading camp/adventure. I first started by getting ideas by looking at travel clip art. Then I sketched some ideas and chose my best. I decided to make a flyer with stamps on the edges to portray the adventure and sense of travel, I also found a picture of 2 globes and combined them into one. I next found a font that I thought looked most like adventure and gave off a travel vibe. Overall I like the whole flyer and how everything comes together and matches. If I were to start over I would maybe change the layout so that everything was not so close together.
