Emma Zimmerman “Flower”
9X12, Sharpie, 2018
The style of this drawing is a mix of realism and abstract. Realism because it is a flower with the normal colors of a flower but it’s also abstract because it is made from dots. I chose a flower because of its simplicity and beautiful colors. If I were to start over I would try to make smaller dots and make more shading with the color of pink.
Emma Zimmerman “Lemur”
18X24, Chalk on paper, 2018
The style of this drawing is realism because it is the accurate colors of a lemur, but with a nonrealistic and detailed background. Symbolism identified in this drawing can be simplicity because of the lack of detail. If I were to start over I would use a different media so that I could add more details in the fur. I overall love the fuzzy look in the gray and white.
Emma Zimmerman “Sydney”
10X7, Graphite on paper, 2018
The style of this drawing is realism and was drawn from a real picture of my cousin that I took. The picture was taken at a waterpark from last summer after a long day. The symbolism seen is innocence and peacefulness of being a child. If I were to start over I would try to add more detail to the face and more shading to create a more realistic look. Overall, I really like the contrast between the graphite drawing and the colorful patterned paper I put it on.
