迎王期間，代天巡狩的千歲爺需要一處駐紮、辦公、休憩的臨時王府，因此東隆宮約在祭典前三天，會進行代天府上樑儀式，將東隆宮設置成代天巡狩千歲爺之王府，也就是迎王祭典期間的代天府，以利祭典祭祀科儀的進行。
