Standard Three ~

Cultural Leadership

School executives will understand and act on the understanding of the important role a school’s culture contributes to the exemplary performance of the school. School executives must support and value the traditions, artifacts, symbols and positive values and norms of the school and community that result in a sense of identity and pride upon which to build a positive future. A school executive must be able to “recultivate” the school if needed to align with the school's goals of improving student and adult learning and to infuse the work of the adults and students with passion, meaning and purpose. Cultural leadership implies understanding the school as the people in it each day, how they came to their current state, and how to connect with their traditions in order to move them forward to support the school’s efforts to achieve individual and collective goals.

Standard 3A - Focus on Collaborative Work Environment

It is imperative to the overall wellbeing of a school to have a collaborative leadership team. Our team meets once a week to discuss all pertinent matters of the school. This is a copy of the minutes from one of our meetings.

School improvement cannot happen from the efforts of one. Our School Improvement Team meets monthly to strategically identify the indicators for improvement and access, measure and determine steps forward towards progression.

Standard 3B - School Culture and Identity

Expression Wall2.jpg

At the beginning of the school year, the administrative team recognized the need to solicit the commitment of each faculty and staff member to assist with students in any way necessary. I created the idea of an expression wall that each member would put their handprint and message to students on. This serves as a daily reminder of our commitment to our students.

To build culture and support the social/emotional learning throughout our building, I developed the idea of having a Kindness Rock Garden. All staff and students were giving rocks to paint with messages of love and kindness. We then placed those rocks under a tree. This is the beginning of a tradition that will be done for years to come.

I was able to obtain a donation of a boulder from a local vendor to be utilized for our school rock. This rock will serve as an inspiration to all who come to the school by displaying messages to staff and students.

Lake Rim Elementary started the new school year with a cruise line themed welcome back party. We celebrated our accomplishments and recognized the disparities from the previous years. My role was to assist with creating a theme, setting up the venue and facilitating while the celebration was taking place.

Standard 3D - Efficacy and Empowerment

This is a Tweet celebrating LRES administrative team and staff for striving for efficacy in all students. We had an empowerment session led by the administrative team under the direction of Dr. Kathy Kennedy. The session uplifted and empowered all teachers to aim for mastery and expect excellence from all students.
