Strategic Leadership

School executives will create conditions that result in strategically re-imaging the school’s vision, mission, and goals in the 21st century. Understanding that schools ideally prepare students for an unseen but not altogether unpredictable future, the leader creates a climate of inquiry that challenges the school community to continually re-purpose itself by building on its core values and beliefs about its preferred future and then developing a pathway to reach it.

Standard 1A - School Mission, Vision, and Strategic Goals

Throughout my leadership journey, I have worked and reworked my vision to strategically fit my personal style. This is my personal vision statement. It is my desire to intentionally align all decisions and actions to serve and move my school community forward.

Standard 1B - Leading Change

To become a transformational leader that is leads first with heart, it is imperative to survey the climate and perceived culture of the school in which we will lead. The links pertain the survey sent to staff to attain perception data from them. A overview of the trends that I saw and next steps was presented to the administrative team to utilize to make informed decisions

At the beginning of my principal residency, my principal mentor tasked me with implementing change in the student arrival/dismissal process. My AP and I rearranged the entire parking lot and process that parents would drop-off and pickup students. This is a parent video created by us to demonstrate the new process that was implemented.

Standard 1C - School Improvement Plan

When assisting with the development of the school improvement plan for the 2021-2022 school-year, I assisted with the organization of the team, adding and removing members and communicating the groups roles to all involved. To ensure our plan was equitable to all stakeholders, we used our school data to determine the appropriate and necessary indicators to focus on. I was also tasked with communicating and assigning specific roles based on each of the required Indistar Indicators. My particular role is Indistar Progress Monitor, in which I handle all oral and written communication for our SIT and ensure all data is access, uploaded and updated throughout the year.

Following Title I protocols, I was asked to develop a compact that would be an information source for parents. Lake Rim Elementary School distributes to parents of Title I students a School-Family Compact. This compact has been jointly developed with parents, outlines how parents, the entire school staff, and students share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement. It describes specific ways the school and families will partner to help children achieve the Common Core State Standards.

Standard 1D - Distributive Leadership

One of my first tasks at the beginning of my residency was to create a better system of student arrival and dismissal. I was tasked with ensuring teachers were assigned to duty stations during arrival and dismissal to ensure all pertinent areas were covered. I was also tasked with overseeing committee team signup.

I worked with the Assistant Principal to strategically assign instructional assistants to busses that would best suit the needs of all stakeholders. We also paired each driver with another assistant as a backup in case there was a need for a substitute.
