Human Resources Leadership

School executives will ensure that the school is a professional learning community. School executives will ensure that processes and systems are in place that result in the recruitment, induction, support, evaluation, development and retention of a high-performing staff. The school executive must engage and empower accomplished teachers in a distributive leadership manner, including support of teachers in day-to-day decisions such as discipline, communication with parents, and protecting teachers from duties that interfere with teaching. They also must practice fair and consistent evaluation of teachers. The school executive must engage teachers and other professional staff in conversations to plan their career paths and support district succession planning.

Standard 4A - Professional Development / Learning Communities

LRES requires all grade levels to hold PLC meetings every Wednesday during their resource time. The administrative team attends all PLC meetings as time permits. All pertinent information is stored on the PLC Minutes Document and shared on the school drive.

During the first teacher workdays, the administrative team administered professional development to all faculty and staff. I developed the theme, which matched our school mascot, and created the activities that each faculty member would attend.

Standard 4B - Recruiting, Hiring, Placing, and Mentoring of Staff

From the beginning of the school year and throughout I had the pleasure of sitting on the interview panels for various positions. I was tasked with creating several interview questions for Social Worker, Instructional Assistant, and Custodian interviews. I was also given the privilege of being the lone interviewer for two Instructional Assistance positions.

Standard 4C - Teacher and Staff Evaluations

Utilizing my training on low inference note taking, I created a document that is now used by the administrative team to record what we see and hear during teacher observations. This document also includes pre-conference that we ask to access what is expected to be observed as well as post-conference questions to calibrate with and coach the teacher after the observation.

While on quarantine due to Covid19, I was approved by my district to telework. I enlisted the assistance of my Instructional Coach who pushed the computer around with me logged in virtually so I could complete my teacher observations virtually. Because I did not have a 360 degree viewpoint, my Instructional Coach and I calibrated our notes, which allowed me to complete the observation with fidelity.
