Standard Seven ~

Micropolitical Leadership

The school executive will build systems and relationships that utilize the staff’s diversity, encourage constructive ideological conflict in order to leverage staff expertise, power and influence to realize the school’s vision for success. The executive will also creatively employ an awareness of staff members’ professional needs, issues, and interests to build social cohesion and to facilitate distributed governance and shared decision-making.

Standard 7A -School Executive Micro-political Leadership

It is imperative to know who is in your building, the strengths they possess, as well as the passions and things they enjoy doing. I collected this information for a human capital table to allow an in depth understanding of the degrees, experiences, and overall climate of each staff member at LRES.  This knowledge has helped me leverage my distributive leadership skills by knowing how to strategically place people in my building. It was also inspirational to post the staff degrees on a bulletin board for all to admire.

This year, Kindergarten students were accepted through staggered entry and assessment. After accessing the student scores and their current academic level, it was necessary to place them with the appropriate teacher that would propel their learning.  Utilizing the knowledge of the strengths of my staff, I was able to assist with the Kindergarten student placement into the appropriate classes.
