Parenting is never easy - even when the road is smooth, it can be challenging. But add in a new school, a sprinkle of Autism, a few challenging bureaucratic systems, assessments, and therapies - things can get overwhelming. Lucky for us, no one has to go it alone at Oakstone!
Change is hard. Whether you are new to Oakstone, new to Autism, or going through a significant transition, we understand and we want to help. We can pair you with another family who has walked a similar path to the one you are on. They can be a touch point for you. Their experience and advice can inform your decisions as you determine the best path for your family. And having someone who can really understand what you are experiencing is as valuable as any advice.
The Oakstone Family Mentors program is here as a resource for any family that would like some help from people who have been there, done that, and took notes while they were at it. When you apply for a mentor family, our team will pair you with another family that has already traversed the obstacles you are encountering. They will be a source of information, support, guidance, and encouragement for you as you follow on the path they have already walked.
