Gifted and Talented High School
Think about your future goals and start planning now...remember you have no limit
take advanced classes based on your interests and strengths
take Dual Credit classes (count for high school and college credit)
consider Trade school and other opportunities that match your interests
join Education Talent Search (ETS offers many opportunities and trips free of charge)
take the ACT (multiple times)
your ACT score is required to apply for scholarships, programs, and college
research shows that your score will improve each time you take the ACT
Sophomores can apply for the Gatton or Craft academy (spend your Junior and Senior year in college)
Juniors can apply for Governor's Scholar (5-week residential program that offers many classes of interest, along with scholarships and full rides to many KY colleges)
WKU Opportunities
WKU Summer and Weekend Programming for Gifted students
Caverna offers transportation and scholarships for our qualifying GT students to attend these programs.
Grades 1 - 6
Three weeks of Saturday courses offered on campus at WKU each fall and winter.
Grades 1 - 3
A week-long summer day camp.
Grades 3 - 5
A week-long summer day camp.
SCATS (Summer Camp for Academically Talented Middle School Students)
Grades 6 - 8
A two-week summer camp for residential or nonresidential students.
VAMPY (Summer Program for Verbally and Mathematically Precocious Youth)
Grades 7 - 10
A three-week residential summer camp.
TIP-KY: The Talent Identification Program of Kentucky (TIP-KY) offers above-level testing to assess where students are academically so educators and families can help guide students to relevant resources, appropriate enrichment programming, and other services that will challenge and encourage growth.
The Doctors Mody Service Learning Competitions for Young People: In 2020, Drs. Bharat and Bharati Mody established The Mody Endowed Fund in Service Learning at The Center for Gifted Studies with the hope of passing on their lifelong commitment to serving their communities and sparking a passion for volunteerism among high-achieving young people.
IdeaFestival Bowling Green: a one-day celebration of ideas for middle and high school students and interested adults
Travel Abroad: Spring Break and Fall Break trips to selected cities and countries of cultural and historical significance for eighth grade and high school honors students and interested adults
