Information for the 2023-2024 School Year
Applications for the Fall 2023 Lehigh University High School Scholars Program should be submitted directly to inhss@lehigh.edu by 5pm on Wednesday, May 10th.
The application process for the Fall 2023 semester of our High School Scholars program is now open. Students are encouraged to type their essay responses directly in the application provided. Students are also welcome to complete the demographic information of their application via this Google form if use of the Word document poses a hardship. Students are highly encouraged to assemble and submit their application package directly.
The deadline for submission is Wednesday, May 10th by 5:00pm. All completed applications should be sent to inhss@lehigh.edu. Late applications are not accepted.
Any high school junior is welcome to apply. As in previous years, the selection committee will identify up to 3 students per high school to participate in the program. If fewer than 3 students apply from your high school, they are not guaranteed admission based on spots available - they will still be assessed by the selection committee using the program entry standards. Students may also be placed on a waitlist and admitted as space becomes available. There is no priority given to students whose parent/guardian works at Lehigh.
The selected students will be able to enroll in one class at Lehigh in the fall with tuition cost covered by the High School Scholars program. Students will be responsible for any course materials, course fees, etc. Successful completion of the fall semester would allow a student to be eligible for re-enrollment during the Spring 2024 semester.
To provide additional incentive and motivation for talented students towards college careers and advanced study. To establish closer ties with Lehigh University and the surrounding high schools. To provide an opportunity for Lehigh University faculty and staff to become better acquainted with the needs and interests of high school students, as well as those of high school teachers and staff members in the community.
This program provides an opportunity for talented rising senior students to take courses at Lehigh University that their high schools may not offer.
Admission is not guaranteed to any nominee. The admitted scholar shall select up to 3 courses of their preference from the list of available courses. This list will be made available in late August to students who have been admitted to the High School Scholars program.
Course availability, to be determined by the departmental chairperson, will depend on space in the class and on the course level. Availability of any specific course cannot be guaranteed at the time of application. Once admitted, the student will be guaranteed a place in a course.
