To Teach our students Roman Catholic values in an environment of academic excellence.

All 3 of these class leaders are allowed to bring a show-n-tell each day of this week.
VIP= "Virtue in Practice"
October's virtue is "Hope"
I hope everyone had a relaxing, wonderful Fall break!
This week we will continue reviewing Week 4 of our 1st period of sight words. We will not introduce a new group of words since it is a short week, but use this as a review week. Please use this extra week to continue reviewing all the sight words on flash cards, and completing the reading chart sent home before the break. We will make a foldable project and help the students write the words on their own chart too!
We will only send home one easy beginning reader book again this week due to the short week. Please keep it stored in the individual bag, and keep it in the folder through Friday. Have them make comparisons this week between themselves and the characters. Concentrate on reading the words the first night, then on the second night have them read and talk about what they are reading with you; try to hide the pictures the third night and see if they can read it without the clues of the pictures!
I would like to thank Mrs. Katherine Padgett and all of her helpers for getting our rosary supplies organized and counting all our beads! The children have done such a wonderful job recalling the stories of the Joyful Mysteries and stringing the beads of each decade! After we have them blessed we will send them home for a short while so you can see them. But, then they will bring them back to school so we can use them as we pray the rosary in class this year! I am so proud of them, and love how much they love to learn about and listen to stories of the Bible.
Don't forget to make reviewing sight words fun; go outside and have them write the words with sidewalk chalk, or draw the words in a pan of pudding or colored sugar, write the words in shaving cream on the bathtub walls!
Other report card skill reviews can be done too on the weekends in the beautiful weather headed our way: Have them count while they swing, use sidewalk chalk to write numbers and letters, say sounds of letters for you in the car, and say prayers on the way to school. Count their Halloween candy! Have fun and commend them for their progress! I have already seen so much growth in them since August! I know Kindergarten is a big jump from Pre-K, but they are really handling it like champs!!
Thank you for the important part you play in their success! Every little bit helps!
This link will take you to a site that has cards with sight words that have action based clues embedded in the words, and gives tips for movements and actions that may help the student remember the words.
If your child is still having trouble identifying letters and/or letter sounds, use this link to practice daily:
We will not be going to Mass this Thursday in the Cathedral.
We will watch Mass on the Promethean Board in the classroom.

Please continue sending empty aluminum carbonated beverage cans to school for our recycling contest! This will continue through the end of April. Each building is in a competition with each other too!! So, help us help the recycling effort! Ask for cans from grandparents too!
Allie Hebert and her sister even had a neighborhood empty can drive! Way to go!!

Our Pumpkin Patch field trip is next Monday on October 26th from 9:30-11:30. Our lunch time will be there if you would like to stay. We will eat in a designated area adjacent to the pumpkin patch.
If you stay for lunch, please bring a blanket for you and your child and possibly a couple of others to sit on!
The students will be able to bring their own lunches. We ask that they are packed in completely disposable bags all packed in a clear gallon sized ziploc bag labeled with their name. This will help us be able to quickly check the lunches to ensure they are all peanut free!
They may pack a juice box or Capri Sun and we will have disposable water bottles for them.
Halloween shirts may be worn with uniform bottoms and shoes.

All donations are always happily accepted and needed!
