Dear Parents,
This week we will continue having handwriting practice in class with strokes, tracing the letters, and practicing their names. Our class will begin our homework routine on Monday. We will have a name writing practice sheet or a stroke practice sheet in the return side of the folders. Please have them write their name on their homework sheet, complete the stroke tracing and make sure they are holding their pencil correctly. We are encouraging them to go slow and stay on the lines so they can control the pencil. If the lines are wiggly when they trace, have them press a little harder. Please always have your child do their homework in pencil!
We will also continue reviewing all the letters of the alphabet, and their sounds. A rapid reading letter homework sheet will be in the return side of the folders too. This will help with letter recognition and get them in the habit of their daily sight word reading assignment once eight words begin in a few weeks. This particular sheet will be in the return side of the folder all week; after they read the letters, record how long it took to correctly identify the letters or simply initial in the box that it has been completed if timing them causes distraction or distress. In Math we will continue working with numbers 0-5. Next week we will give them a number reading sheet to practice. Please continue reviewing their prayers with them; bedtime or on the way to school is a great time for this! Thank you so much for all your assistance at home!

Remember to have the students put their homework sheets back in the "Return side" of their folders as soon as they finish their homework, then pack their folders back in their book sacks.

They only need ONE snack/day, our snacktime is not long enough for them to have more than one thing unless they are VERY small packages or amounts.

If your child is a bus rider, please use your judgement to determine if you think your child needs to continue wearing their bus tags on their collars. If they are familiar enough with their bus number and information (the stop, the driver's name, etc) the tag can be returned and they will no longer need to bring them back and forth. Your name and phone number are written on the tags that are fastened to their book sacks. Please work with them learning your cell numbers in case of emergencies and if the tag would be torn off.

The reading assessment dates that Kindergarten will have this Fall have CHANGED!! They are pushed back one day, and are now Tuesday, November 3rd and Wednesday, November 4th.
Your child will stay home on one of these days.
Please let me know if one day works better for you than the other.

We will be adding a field trip to our schedule this year! Since one of the Kindergarten student's family owns the Pumpkin Patch, we have been granted special permission to attend this year! This will take place on October 26th from 9:30-11:30; We are so excited!
Students will be able to wear Halloween themed shirts with uniform bottoms.
You are all welcome to meet us there. More information will be coming soon!
