This week we will begin sending home the 1st week of sight words on the Rapid Reading chart. Please have them practice these words each night and any letters or sounds that are still giving them trouble. If being timed as they read the words causes stress, you do not have to time them. But, please have them read through the words 3-4 times, and sign at the bottom of the form that they have read with you before returning the form on Friday. We will test the words that are introduced, and any words previously introduced as the weeks move forward on Fridays.
I will be sending home a "Word Detective" checklist for students to use when reading stories to you at home. Get in the habit of asking them questions about what they are reading! Have them give you details or make predictions. We are not sending books home yet, but reading nursery rhymes with them at night and asking them about the story afterwards is a great way to build these comprehension skills, review rhyming words, and prepare them for reading books soon! Thank you, in advance, for all the help I know you will be giving your child.

Finally, I have simplified the dress code that was emailed from the administration last week to what applies to Kindergarten. The list will come home in the folders on Monday. Please make sure to go over it. We are asked to do uniform checks every week!

P.S. If you have not had the chance to purchase the supplies below from your child, please send them in when you get a chance. Thank you! As this round of supplies begin to diminish we will flip flop the requests between the boys and the girls. We may also need more hand sanitizer before long!!

When you are shopping in the next couple of weeks, if you see pie sized pumpkins starting to be put out in the fruit and vegetable section, we will need each child to bring their own. Pie-sized are small-medium pumpkins; not the mini size. We will be using these in class for sizing activities and to decorate when we are introducing letter "Pp".
