WEEKLY NEWS:
MATH QUIZ: The Math quiz that was suppose to be tomorrow will be postponed to a later date.
CHRISTMAS PROGRAM: All 2nd graders will be participating in the Christmas Program which is on Friday, December 15 at 9:00. Students are asked to wear red and/or green shirts with jeans or their school bottoms, Christmas dresses, and/or Christmas accessories. Parents are welcomed to attend.
CHRISTMAS PARTY: Our Christmas party will be on Tuesday, December 19. All students are asked to bring one gender neutral wrapped book to exchange. Please send all books to school on or before Friday, December 15. Students are also allowed to bring Christmas treats for our class. We have 25 students.

READING
Unit 3, Weeks 1-2
*Narrative Nonfiction: A true story about a person by a narrator; can have text features such as photographs and/or captains
*Photographs & Captions:
Photographs show something in the text or gives more information about the topic.
Captions give details about the photograph.
*Author’s Purpose:
Author’s Purpose is the reason, or purpose, that an author writes.
Authors write narrative nonfiction stories to inform, or teach readers about a topic.
Personal Narrative/Time Words:
Personal narratives are written to inform the reader about an experience.
Time words are used to show when each event happened. (Examples: First, Next, Then, Finally, etc.)
*Synonyms:
Words that are have the same or almost the same meaning
GRAMMAR

Present Tense Verbs:
Present-tense verbs tell about actions that happen now.
The form changes to agree with a subject. Add -s to most verbs if the subject is singular, except when the subject is I or you. Add -es if the verb ends with s, ch, she, or x.
Do not add -s or -es if the subject is plural.
