Board Report – Carrabec High School
November 2025
Homecoming at Carrabec High School was truly one to remember this year. The excitement and energy around our “under the lights” games brought an incredible turnout — one of the largest we’ve seen in years. Students, families, alumni, and community members filled the field, creating an atmosphere full of pride and school spirit. The sense of togetherness was remarkable, and it was wonderful to see our community come out in full force to support our student-athletes. Events like this remind us of how special it is to be part of the Carrabec community.
Our Open House was another highlight this fall. We were thrilled to welcome more families than we’ve seen in recent years, and the positive feedback from parents and guardians was outstanding. Teachers had the opportunity to share classroom goals, upcoming projects, and strategies for student success. The energy throughout the evening reflected the strong partnerships we are building between home and school — a key piece of our ongoing efforts to foster communication and collaboration with families.
During our recent professional development day, our staff rolled up their sleeves for a “data dig” focused on NWEA results. Teachers examined sub-scores, identified trends, and broke the information down into usable, actionable data that can help guide instruction. It was great to see staff working together, sharing insights, and planning next steps to support our students academically. This process is just the beginning of a deeper dive into how we can use data to improve outcomes and celebrate progress. There’s much more to come as we continue this work throughout the year.
Our Culture Committee has also been active, launching a new student attendance initiative with a goal of reaching a 95% attendance rate. If that target is met, students will be entered into a drawing for prizes — a fun and creative way to keep everyone motivated and invested in the effort. The campaign has sparked great conversations with students about the importance of showing up every day, being engaged, and taking ownership of their education.
Our maintenance department deserves a special thank you for the pride and care they continue to put into our building. From keeping everything running smoothly to improving the look of our campus, their work makes a big difference. The new stain on the front entrance looks fantastic and really enhances the curb appeal of our school — a visible reminder of the pride we take in our facilities and in being Cobras.

Finally, we continue to emphasize our school-wide message of “Doing the right thing.” This phrase has quickly become part of our daily conversations with students and serves as a guiding principle for the decisions we make. We’ve also started incorporating the concept of a “moral compass” — encouraging students to think deeply about their values and to make choices that reflect integrity, respect, and responsibility.
Carrabec High School continues to move forward with enthusiasm, purpose, and pride. Every day, our staff and students work hard to create a positive, supportive environment where learning, growth, and community pride thrive.
Best Regards,
Bruce Dostie
