Food & Memory! Come and join our food photography class as we take a snap shot of your creations! Learn about how your food and family roots intertwine. Not only will you learn about your food history, but you will also learn to take memorable photos of them.
Inquiry Questions: How does your family history and food connect? What do you gain in taking photos of your food? How does cooking relate to multiple cultures? Does your food tell a story? In what ways can food speak to you through pictures?

FOOD STORYTELLING
We began with a creative writing assignment recalling a memorable meal--describing the sensations and interactions that took place beyond just the food. We then sketched out the objects and dishes from memory to create a document of the moment.
Recipe Family Trees
In this project we interviewed multiple generations of family members to identify the oldest family recipe--in some cases these are recipes that skipped a generation and now were revived! In other cases the recipe was passed through generations with small adjustments each time. In Josue's project, he focused on two rare ingredients that are treated very differently in the US versus in Mexico, both ingredients are also used in traditional healing.
