Teachers & Chaperones

Herr Noah Megowan is the current German teacher at CHS and has taught in the district for 22 years. His first 5 years were at AMS and the last 17 years at CHS. He is a native Oregonian but has spent part of each year since 1994 in Germany. 2020 will be his 10th exchange!

Frau Bettina Megowan is also a teacher here in Oregon but grew up in Germany. She is a great addition to the trip since Lahr, where we have our partner school, is her hometown. She is the teacher who got the German-American Partnership Program started back in 2003!

Frau Lucy Clesly is the program leader on the Germand side. She is a language teacher and a true citizen of the world. She is a native speaker of English & German but is also fluent in Spanish! She is an experienced member of the exchange having traveled to Oregon in 2010.

Herr Christian Wenzel is a teacher at Clara Schumann Gymnasium and has been on the Oregon exchange three times before. He is fluent in English, French, and of course, German. He is also the most experienced band and choir teacher at our partner school.

This is Frau Weinzierl and her husband, Werner (and their grandson).

The chaperones from Canby are usually a mother and father of one of our CHS students. Our chaperones pay their own airfare but are guests of our partner teacher emeritus, Frau Weinzierl in Kenzingen, Germany, a lovely town about 15 miles south of Lahr. Homestays are what make this program so affordable. Even for the chaperones!

This Year's Chaperone:

Mr. Dan Drazan was born and raised in Walla Walla, Washington. He moved to Portland to attend Lewis & Clark College and then to Salem for law school at Willamette University. He's been practicing law in Portland for the last 20 years with the Dunn Carney firm, and is primarily a real estate transactional lawyer.

He enjoys traveling and adventures of all sorts. While in college, he studied abroad and lived in Khabarovsk, Russia. In recent years, he spends most of my outdoor time with family and friends exploring the Pacific Northwest, Disneyland and Alaska. He's an avid fisherman and photographer and enjoy documenting his family's adventures.
