Driving

What about driving my exchange student while in Canby?

If you have to drive to get to school, then it is okay to drive your student as well. Remember, you are treat them as you would a sibling, so if that is how you get to and from school, fine. You can drive around Canby as you normally would. However, you cannot take them on road trips or longer routes (like Seattle or the beach) without an adult.

Your exchange student is not allowed to drive. If you go to the Oregon Dunes or something like that, please speak to the teachers about off-road exceptions for the Germans.

Can I drive while in Germany?

No. You cannot drive in Germany. You can't drive a scooter, you can't drive a car, and you can't drive a boat. German laws are much tougher when it comes to teens and driving. Even if your host parents say you can drive, you actually can't. Plus, most of your host students don't even have their licenses yet, so neither of you can drive.

So how will I get to school in Lahr?

You might walk, ride a bike, or take a public bus (they don't have school buses). You might catch a ride with your host parent if you are lucky. Enjoy the differences!

This exchange student tried to ride his bike in the lake. Bad (but funny) idea.
