Thrive Academy Workshops
The pupils from Primary 6/7 Rasharkin Primary and Primary 6 St. Patrick's Primary, have participated in a 4 week programme of workshops delivered by Thrive Academy. The pupils have been working together to develop the necessary skills to tackle online safety concerns and to promote digital resilience. These vitally important skills will enable our pupils not just to survive, but to thrive online. Primary 4 and 5 pupils also participated in one of the sessions. Well done everyone!
Pupils from P6/7 in Rasharkin Primary and P6 in St Patrick's enjoyed a Christmas workshop, 'Santa in Space: Planetarium Show', delivered by the brilliant W5.
Bringing their portable planetarium on tour, pupils enjoyed an unforgettable journey through the stars to the International Space Station (ISS) to find out how astronauts survive in space. The boys and girls even received a special video message from Santa!
After this, the children learned how to make rockets and had fun launching them!
P6/7 W5 Workshops
Pupils from P6 St Patrick's and P6/7 Rasharkin Primary were delighted to welcome W5 to both schools to participate in two excellent workshops - 'Amped Up' and 'Spike in Charge'.
Pupils learned about types of electricity and how to build various circuits during practical activities. They also learned about the importance of moving away from burning fossil fuels and towards cleaner energy sources. Pupils then set up and used coding instructions to move robots.
Thank you to W5 for facilitating these workshops. Well done everyone!
6/7 Trip to the Folk Museum, Cultra
Pupils from P6 St. Patrick's and P6/7 Rasharkin Primary, enjoyed an end of year trip to the Ulster Folk Museum in Cultra.
The boys and girls enjoyed a guided tour of the museum, where they learned about what life was like in the 1900's.
The pupils visited a school, the doctors, and a drapers shop.
They compared life then to what it is like today and discussed how life has changed enormously for families since then.
