Primary 2 in St. Patrick’s and Primary 1/2 in Rasharkin Primary enjoyed play-based learning sessions entitled, ‘Growing Together.’ They met across the year, developed friendships, embraced nature and acquired gardening skills. They used both school grounds to make art such as patterns and forest crowns from natural resources. They enjoyed play sessions both inside and outside each school. They planted seeds and made ‘potions and perfumes’ using flower petals. To finish their sessions together they travelled to Portglenone forest where they continued their outdoor work with the help of Liz, the Education Officer from the Forest Service NI.  Needless to say the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and developed great friendships.
