Please thank our PTA for sponsoring these dances! We wouldn't be able to host dances for all grades without the support of our fantastic PTA! As a reminder this is a golden ticket event. This means that if a student received an office referral or care form after we returned from winter break, they must request a principal pardon to attend the dance. Most pardons are granted, especially for minor discipline incidents. We love to reward students for good behavior and for improved behavior that includes repairing damaged relationships with peers or Caregivers from behavior. When students engage in restoring relationships harmed by their behavior they demonstrate empathy for how their behavior impacts others by apologizing or repairing (i.e. cleaning up a mess they made).
Examples of behaviors that would be pardoned: off task, mess in the lunchroom, unkind to peers, occasional care forms for minor behaviors, etc. AND student apologized, corrected/improved their behavior and repaired (i.e. cleaned up) when needed
Examples of behaviors that would NOT be pardoned: injured peer or Caregiver, vandalism to school property, repetitive care forms, etc. Additionally, students who are not willing to restore their relationship with their community through making amends, repairing damage, etc.
How: Beginning February 26th, students in grades 2-5 complete this form (or write a letter to Dr. Scott explaining why they believe they should be pardoned and give to their teacher). Students in grades K-1 let teacher know they want to be pardoned and teacher schedules a meeting for the student with Dr. Scott to discuss what they have learned about the school/class expectations and from any behavior incidents. Pardon requests are due by February 28th! Students and their teachers are notified if they are eligible to attend the dance.
