The murder of Ernest Char
By Lachlan Koechly-Williams
Official Police Report
Ernest Char, a thirty seven year old man with rich deep brown hair and blue eyes, was found in a ditch; one of the many around Ashfelt Canyon, CA. He was found by tour guide Brian Hart at 7:13 AM on Monday November 11, 2011. Ernest had fallen down a thirty foot drop by a stony nearby ledge and a knife wound to the back.
The knife was around six inches in length and one centimeter in width. The wound was in between his shoulder blades around his spine at an angle, finally emerging through his ribs. The murder weapon had not yet been recovered.
The body was found atop a mound of ice, causing his body temperature to plummet, thus making it impossible to tell how long he had been dead. The only assumption to be made is that the crime had been committed between 9 PM Friday and 7:13 AM Monday.
The only businesses near the crime were Grill+Chill, a barbecue restaurant, and an inn called Sleepy Days. Grill+Chill reported that a knife matching the murder weapon qualifications had gone missing two days before the murder. They said that a new worker had come in that day. No one could remember what the person looked like. They were saying that hey had a mask, sunglasses, and a hoodie. They said it was for sanitation purposes. The knife went missing after their shift ended at 9:30. All security camera wires were cut the day before.
He had no phone or wallet on him, only a spiral bound notepad with a list of numbers. The numbers have not been identified as numbers counting or marking something, but rather a sort of code.
