In March 2025, IDS announced its transition to FedEx as our sole shipping provider. This decision follows a yearlong pilot program during which we collected data and evaluated FedEx’s customer service and value-added offerings.
Our goal is to complete the transition for all member libraries by December 2026.
Members should complete this form to indicate which quarter they would like to start the transition to FedEx. This will help IDS and FedEx to plan and have the right supports in place to provide a smooth transition.
Member libraries do not need to suspend shipping during the transition. They can ship with both FedEx and UPS at the same time. We want members to transition to FedEx at a pace that works best for them, both logistically and comfortably. Once your FedEx account and software are set up, you can start gradually—for example, shipping 5 packages with FedEx the first week, 10 the next—until you're ready to make a full transition. Libraries may continue to use UPS until you make the full transition.
