Elim was honored to host artist Beckie Etukeok-Johnson for two weeks in February. Beckie engaged students in grades K-12 in a variety of mediums, from drawing, to jewelry making, to beading, and sewing. Students were also privileged to listen to Beckie read traditional stories to them as they drew what they heard. The Aniguiin School staff enjoyed professional development with Beckie as she shared the defining qualities of the distinct regions of Alaska, as well as what makes the art of each region unique.

Using the Project ARTiculate Kit "Cans with Andy Warhol," elementary students from Neviarcualuq (Elim) study the history of pop art with a focus on Andy Warhol. Each student selects a theme and designs his or her own can to create a composite wall installment representing the individuality and creativity of the class as a whole, even while mimicing the relative uniformity of pattern.
