The SILKAT grant is a partnership between the University of Alaska Fairbanks, the Bering Strait School District, and Kawerak Inc.

The purpose of the SILKAT project is to bring local cultural knowledge to the forefront of the curriculum and to recruit, equip and retain new teachers with the knowledge, skills and dispositions to competently and confidently teach in and through the arts and culture in Alaska's schools.
