Explore Class Tools in Classwize using the Class Tools drop-down menu on the right-hand side of your screen. Please note that a class must be in session to access Class Tools. Below we will explore some tools that you may find useful:
FOCUS TOOL - The Focus tool will allow you to FOCUS your entire class on one specific site. Ex: Use the Focus tool to lock the class into Performance Matters for an assessment. Students will not be able to access other sites.
PAUSE INTERNET - Use the Pause Internet tool to pause internet access for your entire class or individual students.
ANNOUNCEMENT- Use the announcement tool to send a screen message to your class.
OPEN SITE - Launch a specific website for our class.
Student Specific Class Tools
Once you start a class in Classwize, you will see a thumbnail view of each student's chromebook. This view will show you their current/active screen as well as an icon for all of the other tabs that a student has open on the chromebook. The functions below are available at the student level.
CLOSE A SCREEN - Close current screen using the X at the top of the thumbnail.
TAB VIEW - Click on any of the other tabs to view and interact with other tabs. From the tab view you can:
a. Follow the student's active tab. (Where they are working)
b. Close a tab.
c. Create a rule that is specific to that site.
SEND A MESSAGE - Use the megaphone icon to send a message to a specific student. This is a great way to silently alert a student that they are off task and redirect their work. This is paired well with the ability to close tabs not related to their work.
FORCE OPEN A TAB - The open tab button allows you to force open a specific website for a student.
PAUSE THE INTERNET - The Pause button allows you to pause the internet for a student. If you have redirected a students work and they continue to abuse the internet, you can use the pause button to remove their internet access.
