** Types of Food Allergies: Peanuts, Tree Nuts(walnuts, pecans, almonds), milk, eggs, soy, wheat, fish and shellfish.

** Some students are so sensitive they can have a reaction just by touching or smelling the food they're allergic to.

** Never take food allergies lightly, and never share your food with friends who have food allergies.

** Classrooms with food allergy students should always wash their hands before and after eating.

Some symptoms( Anaphylaxis) of food allergies can include: a tingling sensation in the mouth, swelling of the tongue and throat, rash, hives and swelling, vomiting, cramps, wheezing, difficulty breathing, and loss of consciousness.

With the increase of food allergies in our school population and the emphasis of "Health and Wellness", the use of food as a classroom celebration is not allowed.
