The role of an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA)

As an ISVA I can provide emotional and practical support and advice to any student who has experienced sexual violence, recently or in the past. This support may include;

- Explain the University’s policies and procedures relating to sexual misconduct;
- Support the student throughout the process of reporting and CJS;
- Provide information about their rights;
- Liaise with the police, the University, your college, the Crown Prosecution Service and/or other relevant agencies;
- Accompany the student to meetings relating to the sexual violence you have experienced;
- Give the student practical support and advocacy with regard to other services (e.g. studies, sexual and physical health, mental health, etc.);
- Help the student plan their safety and access appropriate support at the University or in your local area (e.g. counselling);
- Short-term emotional support for those students not going through any form of a reporting process.
Referral process
I accept referrals directly from students via this self-referral form.
