This presentation addresses some of the global contemporary challenges in addressing violence against women including global conflict, climate change coercion and control. The presentation draws on global and local examples to illustrate current challenges as they relate to awareness raising, prevention and safe service delivery. The presentation exemplifies where global practice relates to local contexts.
Tanya Wells Brown is an international public health specialist, social worker and Dr. Public Health Candidate at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She has worked in international settings for UN Agencies, the European Union and US Government in Timor-Leste, Lesotho, Mozambique, Australia Brazil, South Africa, Indonesia and the United Kingdom. She has designed and implemented programmes addressing sexual and reproductive health programme and strengthening the health and social sector response to gender-based violence.
