Announcement World Menopause Month 2025
Oxford Brookes Celebrates World Menopause Month 2025
October is World Menopause Month – a time to shine a light on the experiences of women and those who support them. This year’s theme, Lifestyle Medicine, highlights how everyday choices around food, movement, sleep, stress, and self-care can make a real difference during perimenopause and menopause.
At Oxford Brookes, we are proud to play our part in creating a supportive, inclusive workplace. This month, we are:
Launching our new staff benefit, the Adora Digital Health App, providing personalised, evidence-based support for perimenopause and menopause.
Hosting a special online panel discussion on 17 October with colleagues, researchers, and external experts exploring lifestyle medicine and menopause in the workplace.
Promoting the Menopause in the Workplace Learning Portal and M&M Calendar, which bring together events, workshops, and resources to empower colleagues.
We celebrate the progress we’ve made together — from Menopause Cafés to staff training and research — and remain committed to building awareness, reducing stigma, and supporting everyone through these natural life stages.
This October, Oxford Brookes will mark World Menopause Month 2025 with a special online panel event on the theme:

New: BSI case study — Lifting the Second Glass Ceiling (Sept 2025) — what it means for menopause support at Oxford Brookes
Published: 12 September 2025
We’re pleased to share an important new update from BSI (the British Standards Institution) — Lifting the Second Glass Ceiling (Update report, September 2025). The report explores why experienced women sometimes leave the workforce early and highlights how employer action on menopause, flexibility and wellbeing can make the difference. It contains a dedicated case study on Oxford Brookes University showing practical workplace interventions and their impact.
We are delighted to announce that the Menopause in the Workplace (M&M) Group at Oxford Brookes has been shortlisted for the Menopause Workplace Excellence Awards 2025.
Our nomination is in the category:
🏆 Best Menopause Support in Education & Academia
This recognition highlights the work of colleagues across the University who are committed to building awareness, reducing stigma, and providing meaningful support around menopause in the workplace.
Being shortlisted is a testament to the positive steps we’ve taken together — from launching the Menopause Cafés and staff learning resources, to strengthening policies and fostering open conversations across our community.
The winners will be announced later this year, and we look forward to celebrating the progress being made not just at Oxford Brookes, but across all sectors working to improve menopause awareness and equity.
The Menopause in the Workplace Staff Learning Portal is now live. This platform aims to support Brookes staff in navigating the various aspects of menopause. You will be able to find this portal page embedded in the Wellbeing & Person Resources, located within the Focus Topic Section
On this page, you will find information about our online and in-person menopause cafe, access the Our OBU Menopause Toolkit brought to you by Henpicked, explore materials on managing menopause, and discover the Managers' Information Pack. Additionally, we have introduced the Menopause Talk Point, where OBU staff will engage in open discussions on various menopause-related subjects. It's a significant step towards fostering a supportive and informed workplace environment.
