Personally, I agree with it becoming unapplicable in the terms of modern day and media, as the development and growth of technology and the internet itself means people have many different sources about many different topics and subjects, so it is likely there will be differing opinions. This means people have to decide between them and consider different factors, so they can't be passive and accept everything and anything, as this theory implies.
