This was (mostly) my chosen layout in the end. It consists of a large landscape picture at the top of the page and the contents underneath it, with a 'Cover Look' section in the bottom corner. Later on, when building my cover page, I added the magazine name and month and year of the issue on on top of the page as I thought it was missing that. I also made sure there was a border around the picture instead of it going from edge to edge on the page.
This was the most common one I saw in fashion magazines like Elle and Vogue. It consists of a big image to one side of the page, the contents on the other and sometimes underneath it, and a 'Cover Look' section under the image as well. Most of the time, the name of the magazine itself and the month and year of the issue would be present on the top of the page.
Firstly, I decide to use this black and white picture of my model for this page beacause I like how she's the main focus, and the black and white makes the focus draw to her and her expression. I tried a layout with the magazine name and the date of the issue where they were around the same size and side by side, with a line separating them. I decided to change this later on.
I made the picture centered on the page and added all the contents underneath. I did this by laying it out first, putting the same number and text multiple times to figure out how I wanted to structure it. I added the page numbers in bigger text than the actual contents and in the serif font instead of the sans serif, which I used for the writing. I also changed the background to white as I noticed it previously had a grey tone. I added a 'Cover Look' section where I put the cover as a small image on the bottom left corner of the page and added a paragraph next to it. I also changed how the name of the magazine and date of the issue are displayed at the top so the date of the issue would be smaller and the magazine name would draw more attention.
Then, I came up with different article ideas to do with fashion, modern media, trends, and more that you would find in a fashion maagazine like this and made an article name for it and a sentence that would hook readers. I different numbers for the page numbers as well, skipping every couple of numbers as I noticed other magazines do. I edited the 'Cover Look' section and wrote a paragraph about the specific items the model is wearing (she isn't actually wearing these, but they are designer clothes that look like hers) as well as the jewellery and makeup. With these final edits, I ended up with my final edition. (Shown in a larger format below).
