The work can be your child's rainbowor colourful/hopeful images. Perhaps even pictures of the Nightingale bird. Whatever your child thinks people will look at and smile. Your child should also add his or her first name to the work and perhaps even a positive message. We would love if all of Year 1 can get involved to show their kindness and positivity, which we see everyday in school!
Hi Year 1 parents and children,
So as BV is so close to Excel, we have offered to print/laminate student art from around the UK and it's gone a bit viral on twitter...
We thought it would be nice if all year groups from BV create art for the temporary Nightingale Hospital at Excel and either email it to art@britannia-village.newham.sch.uk or upload it directly through a form by going to bit.ly/nightingaleart

Today we would like you to practise writing the value of the coins below. Continue practising using coins in your house and plating pretend shop with your family. English
Today we are going to be using adjectives, nouns and verbs to build a sentence.
This week we have learnt about adjectives, nouns and verbs. Now it's time to write our sentence.
In your home learning packs you have a laminated sheet like this along with a whiteboard pen that you can use to write on easily.
We are first going to think about our noun. Who or what do we want to write our sentence about? Mariam decided to choose Queen Titania from 'A Midsummers Night Dream'.
Next we need to think about our adjectives. Remember to use exciting vocabulary when describing your noun rather than saying 'happy' or 'sad' or 'angry'. What words can you use instead? Mariam has decided to use kind and caring.
Now we are going to think about the verb. What is Queen Titania doing? Mariam has said that Queen Titania is sleeping peacefully.
We're nearly ready to write our sentence. We need to complete the last section which says; where is it set? Mariam has decided to choose a forest. What will you choose?
We are finally ready to write our sentence. Mariam has used 'Think it, say it, write it' to complete her a sentence. Now it's your turn. Don't forget your finger spaces, capital letters and full stops. Can't wait to read your sentences year 1!

Topic
Investigation - Making a lava lamp
Can you mix cooking oil and water?
If you mix a teaspoon of sugar or salt into a cup of water the sugar will disappear (dissolve) into the water. But can you still taste it if you drink a little sip of the water? (Give it a try)
What happens if you try to mix some cooking oil with water? To test this you can make your own lava lamp.
You need:
1 small empty bottle with a lid - such as a coke or water bottle
2 small cups of cooking oil
1/2 a cup of water.
1 teaspoon of food colouring (optional)
Step 1: Fill the bottle 2 thirds full with cooking oil.
Step 2: fill the rest of the bottle up with water - leave a little room at the at the top.
Step 3: Shake the bottle to see if the water and the oil mix together or does the water and oil stay seperate?
If you want to add some food colouring to the bottle you can to give it a bright colour.
Post a video on the assigned activity on Class Dojo so your teacher can see your home made lava lamp!
