Starting Your Onboarding Journey

The first section of the handbook covers the registration process, including the concise and comprehensive registration form, teacher meet and greet, enrollment confirmation, and first tuition payment. The section also includes information on continuous enrollment and a scheduled parent onboarding meeting with our Parent Support team.

Preparing your student's study area and tools

The second section of the handbook focuses on preparing your student's study area and tools. It includes tips on creating a distraction-free study space, ensuring high-speed internet connectivity, and familiarizing your student with essential tools such as Zoom, Google Workspace, and the Learning Management System (LMS). The section also provides a list of useful Chrome extensions, including Google Dictionary, Grammarly, Read&Write, BlockSite, Google Keep, OpenDyslexic, Color Enhancer, and Forest, to support learning and productivity.

Access Gmail, Clever, Toddle

This section of the handbook focuses on ways to stay connected and informed about school activities and communication channels. It highlights the importance of using email as a primary communication channel, bookmarking the Clever portal for quick access to learning resources, and staying updated on class schedules and updates through our Toddle Portal. Additionally, students can participate in live classes, electives, and study halls to enhance their academic success.

Preparing Materials for Virtual Learning

This section provides a list of essential and useful materials for virtual learning. Essential supplies include headphones, stylus and digital drawing tablet, notebooks or binder with paper, and a planner for time management. The section also provides additional suggestions for students with disabilities, such as blue-light-blocking glasses, noise-canceling headphones, and balance ball chairs.

This section offers support in navigating state-specific regulations and documentation. With resources such as the Home School Legal Defense Association website and personalized guidance, Brilliant Microschool helps families ensure a smooth and compliant virtual learning experience.

Understanding our Curriculum & Assessment

This section describes high-quality, mastery-based curriculum with a strong emphasis on reading and writing. Assessments are designed to inform instruction, gauge student understanding, and guide pedagogical modifications. Qualitative and quantitative evaluations are provided in mastery-based report cards issued three times per year.
