                             We are better together

ring

I'm going to be talking about typing club. Typing club is a free online game that we do only on Friday. Some kids do not like it too but some kids do like it. Me and Alana sit together every single time you do typing club and sometimes the time except when Alana has an Ambassador meeting.

Bridges MS:

The Last Elective

By Ben

As the school year ends, everything wraps up. All subjects have already started their end-of-the-year projects or started to finish everything else. This is familiar behavior in school and is something all of us have experienced. Here at Bridges we are doing the exact same thing with wrapping up our regular subjects and starting crunch time for Top God. Here at this school we also have our electives. These are periods on Fridays when we get to do special subjects set up by teachers. They can be really fun and are one of the most enjoyable classes in our school. Sadly, electives are also coming to an end, much like everything else. In fact, this Friday (the 10th) will be the last elective this school year since it is one of the last Fridays. This can be a big letdown to some students in this school and will be with a lot of them. Despite that, we can still have fun at the end of the school year without electives and enjoy the last elective while we can.

Daily Jobs & Tasks at Bridges Middle School

Sam S.

5/9/24

Hi. Let's talk about the Flamingo jobs and tasks at Bridges Middle School. Every morning when I get to school, I have the delight of going over to Miss Pritchards desk and the first thing I hear from her is “DISHES” which signals me to get my tushy away from her before she explodes and go to empty the dishwasher. In order to accomplish the tasks of dishwasher job, you have to make sure to empty the dishwasher when it’s finished, load it when there are dirty dishes in the sink, and start it when it’s full. We have to make sure to complete these tasks otherwise we get the consequence of Miss Pritchard yelling our name and then saying “Come here please..” and then we are doomed. Some of the other jobs are important to certain people for example, Kalman’s job is taking care of the chromebooks and desktops. He is the only one that can do that because he knows so much about technology. That's the reason dishwasher is so important to me because I am the best at cleaning and I am the cleanest out of everyone at Bridges. INCLUDING MISS PRITCHARD. Anyways. I think that's enough for one website. See ya!

Reading Class In Two Different Classes

By Abby and Riley W Westing

Reading is outstanding and you can't change my mind about it. I used to be in Ms. Pritchard's reading group but then I advocated for myself and got moved up. The definition of advocate is: To stand up for yourself and be bold. I felt like in Ms. Pritchard's reading group I was ready to reach my full potential. So I advocated for myself in the middle of the semester. I'll be an amazing reader and have good adult skills for when I'm older. The book that we are reading in Mrs. Hofeld’s reading group is Restart by Gordon Korman. Mrs. Hofeld has us do a review of the different chapters we have been reading and she has us take turns reading different chapters. But sometimes on Fridays we get to do a word ladder, which are very fun. It's where the paper has a word written and there will be a clue for each rung of the ladder as we're coming up and then we have to go all the way to the top. We have to write a word next to the little helpful clue. I've already read the book Restart by Gordon Korman but I didn't know that this whole phone's reading group was reading Restart by Gordon Korman until they had just started reading it in the first chapter. The teachers already knew I read the book and warned me to not spoil it for the other students who were in Mrs. Hofeld's reading group. I'm giving the floor to Riley now…

As you can see, there are many interesting things about reading classes. I am in Mr Keenan's reading group where we are currently reading a formerly banned book, Bridge to Terabithia. Bridge to Terabithia takes place in the 1970s in Virginia. In Bridge to Terabithia, the main character Jess ends up meeting somebody named Leslie Burke who doesn't really fit in. He also does not fit in. In the story they create an imaginary land called Terabithia. We read two chapters at a time in the book. That's all the information I can give you about the book, by the way, because that's how far we've read. Every two chapters we answer some questions. Currently, we're answering the questions for chapter 3 and 4. For example, “How did Jess's opinion about racing change?” In Mr. Keenan's reading group, we also did word ladders, primarily at the beginning of the year. Our goal is to finish Bridge to Terabithia in the four weeks we have until school ends. Sometimes we work using no computers and sometimes we all type on the computers. When we are done with questions, we have extension activities, such as a news report, but that was back during The Westing Game. By the way, I have multiple websites on that, and other people also have websites on that. But reading class is always very interesting, especially when our teacher, who by the way is a demon, threatens to eat our books… trust me, it happens a lot. We are having a lot of fun reading Bridge to Terabithia and there's so much information to be unpacked. Maybe if you read it you'll find more than we did.  I hope you have enjoyed our website.

Happy Mother's Day!

Every Friday we do a typing club. We learned  you need to get your fingers in the right Position for your finger so after we play, if for a while you get to play a typing game, oh and the name of the website is literally. called typing club, the game is fun and you get to type and try to make it to the end of the game. We have to do 10 minutes. of the typing club then we get to do it class  class we are doing fun things I forgot what the name of it but it's really fun. Thanks for reading:)

The Improvement of Our Writing

By Pachi & Madelyn

Since the beginning of school, our class has been doing IEW and website. In IEW, we do a specific order. It starts with picking a paragraph. Then we highlight the words that we think are important. Then we move on to keyword outline, edit, we work on our draft, and after we get edited by a teacher, we wrap it up in our nicest handwriting. For the website, we use our Chromebooks and we write about what is happening in our school or our community, like new read-aloud books and classes. We have made lots of improvements to our website and our writing. If you have been keeping up with the website all of this year, you will know we love doing the website. That is all! Look out for more writing, but this is it for now. This is Madelyn and Pachi signing out.

Drawing Elective

By: Theo the goober creator (goober is what I call my monsters) ya ok long name yippee

So last week in the drawing elective all the people in Ms. Quinter's elective drew a bunch of different things like me. I drew some little guys 😈 they are monsters they look a million different ways. Some have yellow horns and some don't, some are eldritch horrors from beyond the mortal plane. Others are making a stick figure contest (Austin) and Penn is drawing people, the same with Red and Bryson is drawing goofy goober.

Thanks for reading and tune in next week

Maybe part 2 next time 👍

Reading

By Dylan

Reading is something I have almost never written a website about, so I think I'll finally do it. Reading is not the most fun for me and maybe that's why I haven't written about it yet. In Reading, we just finished up reading a book called Unbroken. The main character is a person named Louie who is an amazing track athlete and fought in WWII. Next week we will read a new mystery book. We're also reading a book called Restart which stars a bully named Chase who fell off a roof, got amnesia, and is slowly rebuilding his life as a new person. It's a pretty fun class.

Top God By a Second Year

BY SAMPSON!

When I first went to top God literally just in the car, I was bouncing off the walls excited and my dad asked do you know where we're going or what's going on or anything like that and I'm like nope just so excited and for something I didn't even know. I thought top God was going to be like a small thing with all the kids in school and a few extra people in like a gym or something but no it's a whole Auditorium. I just find a seat and sit down and I'm just like wow it's looking everywhere in awe. Then Miss Pritchard walks up and starts talking and then the 8th graders come up and present their God and they have an entire speech on it. The audience get their papers to vote for their favorite God and once the votes are all collected, they are decided. Let's go meet the gods that will run for: Hercules, Ares, Aphrodite, Zeus, Hephaestus, Dionysus, Gelos, Nemesis, Hades, Atlas, Poseidon, Prometheus, Athena. Those running contestants vote for whichever one and you like the best. But remember, it's not about how good the poster looks, it's about how good their speech is. And for everything else you'll just have to find out for yourself.

Let's Play Fuutball

By Tessa, as well as Freddie

Hey, hi, hello folks, welcome back to the Freddie and Tessa show. Itz Freddie and my comrade Tessa, and we're here with another info report on things. Spoilers on school ahead. Watch out, and take care…

Hi! You're probably confused about the title. Football is not one of the electives… except it is! In Ireland its called football, my dad used to watch it on TV. Oh and I'm here with my Comrade Freddie and we're working on this together.  We go to the track field for the elective and we share it with other people who are practicing there, which is fun to see how they're doing. It's fun to be able to talk to your friends as you walk to the track field. You also get to talk on the way back because you walk in a 2x2 line.

Well that's Freddie and Tessa signing off from Flamingo South.
