Ai Wizards Vs Ms. Pritchard

Ms. Pritchard won’t let me play my video of Ai wizards. I got over 12k views on YouTube because of it, thousands of people like it, how come Ms. Pritchard doesn’t? I understand that I can't plug my DVD into a chromebook, and I can't use my SD card with it because it would not go well with the school's tech department. I can play it on a standalone player and still be following the rules. The rules that I'm talking about are: it can’t connect to the internet or bluetooth and it can’t record. My player can’t do any of those! I don’t see how it's breaking the rules, it’s just a loophole, and loopholes aren’t against the rules. If you want to see my Ai wizard videos you can view them here: Ai wizards 1 Ai wizards 2 Ai wizards 3  Ai wizards 4 Ai wizards 5 Ai wizards 6 Ai wizards break out of prison deep fried wizards

Bridges Art: Abstract Aves

By Ben

For many ages, we humans have been making many great inventions throughout history since the dawn of civilization. Almost every new creation has been groundbreaking to society and then some! There were many inventions that were so mind blowing at the time, it almost was unfathomable. Many great things were invented, but it is hard to argue that there has been a greater invention that reinvented art. At Bridges, we are no stranger to this seed of inspiration. This may be true with other people, but we are especially good friends with the arts, specifically drawing. This time we are pulling an old favorite: cardboard cutouts, and since we are studying about birds we are making abstract birds (or as the title says: abstract aves)! We make these pieces by first drawing a draft on the shape we want to cut the cardboard. After that, we cut them out and start painting them. Finally, we put them together like a jigsaw puzzle to reveal a priceless piece of art. This project is really engaging and I can't wait to do more.

                  Art Class!!!!

You do not know how wonderful this project our class is doing. Okay, let's get started! In art class we got introduced to a new project. We get to choose a bird and we make a picture on scrap paper, then on cardboard. It’s 3D, and It's really amazing. I suggest you try it. Anyway, let's get on with this. Mine will be so cool it's going to be a hummingbird with her little baby and an egg in the nest. I think these are going to turn out so amazing and we're only doing birds for them because we are studying them in science. They're going to be so outstanding! Anyway, thank you for stopping by to read this. That's all for today!

Chess Elective

by Daniel

Chess is a very popular game, which is why I'll be talking about chess today. The first piece we will talk about is the pawn, who can move two spaces forward on their first move. On their second move, however, they can only move one square forward. All pawns can move two spaces forward on their first move. If a pawn reaches the end and let's say you lost the rook. When the pawn reaches the end of the chessboard, they become promoted. The next piece is the king he can move in all directions but they can only move one square at a time. Both sides will have one king. One thing that the king can do and no other piece can do is castle. The rook and king trade places, but only two of the squares. Speaking of the rook, let's talk about him. The rook can move in straight lines, for example they can move up and down, and left to right. When he is on the 7th rank, it is very dangerous because he can start wiping out your pieces one by one. The best way to counter this is by using rooks. Now I am going to talk about the knight or the horse. They can move in L-shaped patterns and you don't want your king and queen near one because they can fork you and you will lose the queen. And the horse can also jump over other pieces. The next piece is the bishop. The bishop is one of, if not the most, useful pieces in chess because you can attack at diagonals and if you have an opening with both bishops alive, you can checkmate the king. Last but not least, the queen. The queen is one of, if not the most, powerful pieces in chess. The queen can move in any direction so long as nothing is blocking its path. But the queen cannot jump over pieces and they pretty much act like the rook and the bishop. Unfortunately, that's all the time I have. Have an amazing day👍

Typing Club

By Austin

In IT we are doing Typing club to enhance our typing skills. So far I have gotten to A and the semicolon* on the keyboard. The lesson we do is Typing jungle. You start with J and F which have bumps so you know where to place your fingers. Next is D and K. then S and L. then A and the semicolon* (where I am). IT starts after reading on Fridays.

* I have to say that instead of the symbol because otherwise it says my entire article is at -infinity% on Grammar/Spelling

ELC Salamanders

By Outstanding Kid Riley

Hello, today I'm here to talk about salamanders. So in science, we are watching these live streams from Clackamas Community College. Specifically the Environmental Learning Center (ELC). Even more specifically in the watershed. Last time, it was about salamanders. So let's get into the information about salamanders. The primary focus of this was the Northwestern salamander. Northwestern salamanders, for a lot of the year, they just sit there underground underneath the logs leaves and in burrows. Northwestern salamanders also have a very interesting defense mechanism. So imagine that you're about to grab a dog and then it suddenly covers itself with poison that smells bad and it's poisonous to the touch. Are you going to keep on trying to grab it? Anyway, it can produce this whenever it wants. At least, as long as it has some of it in it. But they can choose to, as long as it has some of it to squirt, squirt it just like a skunk except from every part of their body. Like pretty much every single salamander, they lay their eggs in water and in the spring. Northwestern salamanders are slightly poisonous, not venomous. They are mildly poisonous when they are young to adults and make it so a predator just does not want to bite them. They can grow to be on average 8 inches long. Northwestern salamanders need wetlands to survive. It gives them water to keep them wet. It also keeps on a place to camouflage and gives them a place to lay their eggs. Anyway, I'm about at the limit of my website size, so bye!

Restart

By Freddiss

hi … welcome, my name is freddiss but you can call me fred. So you must be wondering what does the title of this story have to do with bridges middle school? Well it's a book in the reading period or first period. The story was about a boy named Chase Ambrose who lost his memories of all the people in his life but only the people. He could still walk, talk and ride a bike. latter  In the story he went home and found a huge crack in his door. His mother reveals she let him play sports in the house and kinda regretted it. Later Chase looks at his phone and looks at his background. It's a picture of two boys crowded around him. He was holding a baseball bat on the end a broken mangled jack o'lantern. Next he looks at a text string and learns that he used to bully a boy called jole to the point of leaving town. That's all we've read so far and I'm positive that I'm leaving something out but I can't remember what, which is ironic because this book is about not remembering. And it looks like we're out of time so this is Freddie stepping out.

Fitness boot camp

By Adam

Fitness boot camp. A popular elective amongst many. though hosted rarely as mentioned before, a lot of people like it and go figure that includes myself. If you've ever read one of my other websites, you'll probably know that this is a popular subject for myself, but I'll be writing about it again today, so buckle up and hopefully enjoy the ride. It was a typical morning…. However, there was a buzz of excitement in the air. Although let's back up a minute around 2-3 minutes before it had been announced that we would be voting for electives. The previously mentioned buzz of excitement was mostly people debating what the electives might be. We began our way upstairs. Which was rarely done on a typical day we would vote downstairs. We were met with confusion by 7th and 8th graders. On why we were upstairs, although a minute later everybody was sitting down, and the confusion was no longer. Teacher Started stating the electives that they would be hosted. We listened carefully. After each elective was announced, a buzz of excitement would rise up and then quickly fall, waiting to hear the next. It was Mr.  Keenan's Turn to state what he would be hosting…. as the title suggests fitness boot camp rather than just a hum of excitement, and exaggerated roar rose up. I immediately knew what I would be voting for. A few more days passed, and it was Friday. Electives are hosted on Friday for half days. It was a typical morning. Out of nowhere, we were called to sit on the floor. Electives were being announced well by which one we had been accepted to. Miss Pritchard said in fitness boot camp will be...she rattled off names until mine came up. Oh yes my name, I thought. Around, an hour later, it was time for electives. I lined up outside Mr Keenan's door. Keep in mind this was only our first day of electives for these 5 weeks. We saw the man himself walking up to the door. The words I had been waiting all day were said. For me, it was almost like everything when the slow motion the words that had been said were. Come in for Fitness boot camp. The line moved forward, and I eagerly awaited instruction. We rolled out yoga mats and did a series of warm-ups. Consisting of things such as high knees, squats and lastly, I'll mention Lunges although there are more.

I'm sorry to say I've run out of time today to write, although trust me I will continue this. Thank you for taking the time to read what I have written. And may I reiterate there will be more just I don't have the time today. Thank you for reading this part.

IT Class

Typing Club

By Hudson

We started using a new app last week in IT Class. It is called Typing Club and it is for learning how to type. There are 685 lessons in the Typing Club, from exciting games to challenging typing lessons. Each lesson you complete tells you how fast you typed and how accurately you were. So 1 to 5 five stars depending on how well you do the lesson. Typing Club is very interesting and exciting. This is Hudson signing off. See you next time.

So tomorrow, on Friday, people can commission me

to make a Brian. Brian is a crochet brain. I am making people can commission me, and based on that Commission, I will make a Brian.

My most recent commission came from my friend Bryson who wanted a pyrokinetic Brian made out of orange and yellow yarn. My first-ever commission was to make a zombie Brian.

I.T. typing club

Today in I.T. or informational technology we went on a website called typing club. Typing club is this free website that helps kids with typing with I'm pretty sure 685 levels?!? I need to give them credit though after all they know their audience. Once kids including me see that there are badges there's a part of them that instinctually wants to 100% anything that has a screen and any form of interactivity that fires off a singular neuron releasing dopamine which inevitably leads to them wanting to 100% the game. So congratulations typing club you know what you're doing You have made a game that is both “educational” and very entertaining. Either way, I think it's a great idea to do typing club. It's a superb way to help kids be more familiar with the home row keyboard which is really a necessity because we have one day websites with no Partners now. Either way, I think how they handle getting kids more familiar with the keyboard makes it a lot easier to write. Also The teachers have made it so that if you do a specific amount of levels, you get to do something in Google drawings anything you want! In summary, I wasn't ecstatic about the idea of typing club at first considering I along with I assume many other students have had terrible experiences with spelling in the past but I'm coming to understand why it's so important now.

Yarn Art Elective

By Tessa

If you are new to reading my website, welcome and if you have read my websites before welcome back. Let's talk about what options we had for electives. What did we have? The options are: yarn art, chess, Readers theater, CD art, and boot camp! Now I chose yarn art and I'm crocheting a scarf. Some people are making hats and are working on what they were working on last time. Since they had this elective a second time, the people that were in the first class are working on what they worked on in the last session. I honestly think that yarn art is a fantastic elective. Of course I don't know what's going on in the other classes but I think yarn art is really fun elective. Crocheting is slightly difficult but really fun. I think everyone should try doing crocheting or knitting or some type of yarn art.

That's all for this week. I'll report in next week. This is our news, Flamingo news, or sometimes known as The Daily Bugle.

This is Tessa signing off from Flamingo South.

Have a good rest of your week.

Borneo

Hi, I'm Sampson. In social studies me and my class are learning about Borneo. My teacher, Ms Pritchard, went to Borneo to help the orangutans. Orangutans are an endangered species, they're not hunted but the rainforests that they live in are. Because the rainforest that they live in has super rich soil it is a perfect place to grow crops. This is why the rainforests are taken over by other people. This is in Indonesia, where most of the orangutans are kept safe, but if you go into Indonesia, they'll track you down and ask you why you're there. This is all in an act to protect orangutans. But don't get too close to them; they're 10 times stronger than us. My teacher went to Kuching. Kuching means cat, that's why they're called the city of cats. But that may have a large thing to do with the fact that there are hundreds of stray cats on the streets of Borneo. Borneo has a lot of orangutan murals. They take people like graffiti artists and let them do what they like to do but in a way where they won't get in trouble. There are few fridges in Borneo because that's just way too expensive. Borneo has a lot of local markets where you can buy fresh food. But why would you even need electricity when you're here for nature? Borneo is a beautiful place full of all kinds of life, though I have never been there. I hope to go someday (and see baby turtles).

        Salamanders and Frogs

                                                                     By Abiir

Salamanders and frogs are both amphibians. Both creatures have the same life cycle. Here are four examples; 1.) they are born from eggs, 2.) they then become larvas which are also called tadpoles, 3.) they then grow into adult form, and 4.) The females go on to lay eggs. Now here are some examples of how salamanders and frogs look. Salamanders come in different colors, camouflage in their surroundings, have long tails, and look like lizards. Frogs, on the other hand, come in many colors, have smooth skin, and no tail. Both creatures look alike but their habitats are different. Salamanders live in forests near water such as ponds, swamps, and lakes. They hide in burrows or under moist leaves. Frogs mostly live near freshwater and swamps, but they can live in tropical forests, frozen tundras, and scorching deserts. So there you have all the information for today. Here is Abiir rappin up.

Art 3D

I’m guessing you all know what 3D art is, but us flamingos are doing it somewhat differently, we are using cardboard. We have to do a couple of things before we get to the 3D part, what we have to do is make a design, make sure the design is at least good quality for the project and the teachers. Then when we are done with that part, we can get our cardboard to copy our design on to the cardboard. Oops I almost forgot to tell you what our main idea for the project, it’s a bird.now where was i… oh ya, then we paint all the pieces to the 3D art then all we have to do is glue the pieces together.

Thank you for reading this, peas and goodbye: Pachi

Obstacle Course

2/22/24

By Sam L.

This week, in Fitness, we are learning a new game. We are calling it “Obstacle Course” mainly because it is an obstacle course. We start out by splitting into four groups chosen by Mr. Keenan. Each group has its own color and they all make their own obstacle course. Then they choose one person from their own group. Then that person gets blindfolded while going through the obstacle course. They also have one person from their group lead them through the obstacle course by saying directions. Last time we had four puzzle mats, three noodles, five cones, and three hula-hoops. The puzzle mats are mats with little connecting things on the side to attach them to each other. Mr. Keenan also waited at the end to scare the kids that had finished. It was very entertaining because the people going through the obstacle course kept turning the wrong way and getting confused. That is all I have for you this week.

The Further Adventures of Ms. Pritchard of Borneo

By Ewan

‘The storm raged on for days and days. (Well, not actually days and days. I just did that for dramatic effect.) Finally, Ms. Pritchard and the captain were washed up onto a small island. The captain said that they probably wouldn’t be able to go to a resort that cares for turtles, but she offered Ms. Pritchard a longhouse. She said yes.

When they came to a village, the locals were treating the king like royalty. Just then, Ms. Pritchard learned… he was royalty.

The captain was a captain captain. As in, he was chief of the island.

Ms. Pritchard felt amazed to meet him already, but the captain captain took a step up to her and said, “Would you like to hear how I saved my island?”

“Yes!” said Ms. Pritchard. And so the captain told her his story.’

Hi again! There aren't many details in this dusty old book, so I thought I’d give you some information before we dive back in again. Basically, palm oil is a big product in Southeast Asia.. and that’s a problem. Whole islands are cleared for palm oil plants, while the residents get money but no place to live. It’s a very sob story, and this is one of the very rare close calls…

-Ewan

“Once upon a time, two men came to my island. They asked to see the king (me!), so the villagers took them to their leader (me, again!). I asked them, “Who are you and what do you want?”

The men replied, “We want palm oil fields.”

I replied, “What? No! You can’t go around tearing down rainforests while you’re like ‘dum de dum de dum, this won’t harm anybody!’, and leaving the villagers with no place to live!”

“We’ll give you money!!!” said the two men.

“I stand by my statement,” I replied.

“Let’s make a deal,” one of the men said. “We will come back one more time. If you say yes and give up all your land, you will all receive large sums of money. If you say no, we…

WILL MURDER YOU.”

So a few days passed, and soon the men were back again. They then said, “You better give us your land or eeeeeeeee?!?!?!?”

I was there, protecting my island, along with all the other chiefs from all the other islands. I growled “I’m saying no, and if you’re taking this land, you’ll have to kill everyone on the island.”

Well, the two men certainly didn’t want to be on the news for a mass murder, so they sailed back off to the sea.

As for us, we didn’t have much money, but we were happy we still had our land. Since then, I’ve handed over rule to my brother, but I am still the de facto leader. The end.’

So Ms. Pritchard stayed the night in the longhouse, and woke up next morning to see turtle tracks. The mom turtles had obviously laid their eggs, and the villagers were storing them in secret places to keep safe from poachers. That night, Ms. Pritchard said goodbye to everyone on the island, and sailed off.

The next morning was the last morning. Ms. Pritchard was staying at a resort where a famous stampede of monkeys took place. She felt so happy she went to Borneo.

Six years later, she felt that she wanted to teach all about Borneo to her class, and the rest is history.”

THE END

Salamanders

By Dylan

In social studies we learned about salamanders so I'm going to give you some facts we learned. Salamanders might look like lizards, but they don't have any scales and they're slimy. This is one of the many interesting facts about salamanders. Here are some more facts about salamanders. Salamanders come in a wide variety of colors; they could be black, they could be bright orange and anything in between. They also come in a wide variety of sizes. They could be smaller than your fingernail or they could be 1.8m in size. These creatures are also a little different from other amphibians; they prefer much cooler temperatures there, which is why you can find them underneath objects most of the time. There's also a very large variety of salamanders. After all there's 760 known species alive today. And that is all goodbye.

Art classes

Hi am Bryson I'm going to be talking about art classes. We are practicing how to draw a room with perspective. You draw a straight line. It just goes on and on.

Chess is a game where you play a war based board game as if it was a war. There are six pieces. Pawn, Bishop, Rook ,Knights, Queen and King. There are two sides- white and black. White will always go first. If the King dies, then the game is over. It's my second time playing this game in the elective and I didn't get a single win for my last chess elective and I find this to be no fun. There's probably no way to change elective and even if there was it would probably have been too late to change.

Math (LCD Lowest Common Denominator)

By Abby 🙂

In math we (Students) get to work on our own individual things that we're working on. The students will NOT care what you are working on because they will work on what they are working on, they won’t be looking at you and judging you. It is okay if you are still working on order of operations or other math like that. Right now I am currently working on the Common Denominator LCD method. I’ll do my best to explain it. Let's say you have ⅖ times ⅘. You want to make a line that looks like a minus symbol, then multiply the top or the bottom line. (I don't remember which line to multiply, I’m still practicing) Then once you have multiplied that number for which the answer you got when you're multiplying the fractions top or bottom like I said earlier, I don't remember. When you have an answer write it down on the top and bottom number because it will be the same for the denominator, I think… Then, once that has happened, you have to multiply the number that is on the top of the fraction, of which the answer is next to the fraction where we begin with, multiply those two numbers. Once you have the top answer, you want to multiply the bottom to give you the answer and the answer for the bottom part will be important. Then you'll make two more minus symbols which will be the two lines of the fraction which will we will get to that in a just a moment. Once you get the answer from multiplying the two numbers you want to Write that down on the two more minus the most that we have created above all the original equation. Remember when I said you want to multiply the bottom numbers? Yes, that will be the answer for the bottom part. Then when you have to multiply and got the answers for the two fractions you want. Multiply the two top numbers but leave the bottom number the same because that will make it the fraction or the improper fraction depending on what the problem and the equation is. This was my best explanation that I could give you. I'm going to post the Math Antics link. I hope you have a great day!

Salamanders in Science

By Madelyn & Sam S.

In Science class, we have been joining a Zoom meeting with Clackamas Community College in Oregon City. The topic that we are learning right now is wetlands. Here are some fun facts about salamanders of the wetlands. The Northwest salamander starts as an egg underwater and it lives in the water most of its life. Only some species of salamanders live in the water. Most adult salamanders grow up to 8 inches long. Salamanders are mildly poisonous. This protects them from predators. They also show their bright orange belly to make predators know they are poisonous. For most of the year, salamanders live underground. They also live in logs, leaves, and burrows, etc. There are a wide variety of salamanders. Salamanders can produce a white poisonous substance to protect themselves. When they are in eggs, they live in an egg sack which has a protective layer around it to protect them. Alot of people know of the salamander called an Axolotl.

Thanks for reading!
